Summary: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat Benchmark requires
d3dx9_31.dll and d3dx9_42.dll to run
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.5
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: shannon.vanwagner(a)gmail.com
The game would launch to a black screen, then by using alt+tab to the error
dialog, and alt+space to set the error dialog to "always on top", the error
says "Your video card doesn't meet game requirements. Try to lower game
settings", even though I ran it at lowest settings.
winetricks d3dx9_31 d3dx9_42 works around the problem
Note: you may need to get the latest winetricks from

crash report from wine
Pretty much all old games stopped working, as in anything pre-directx 9.
Examples include Anachronox, Arcanum, Kult: Heretic Kingdoms.
Some non-old games also do, such as Test Drive Unlimited 2 and Driftmoon.
I can't discern the pattern between the games that work and the games that
don't but it seems to be affecting mostly pre-dx9 games.
I'm running Arch Linux and using the currently latest proprietary Nvidia
drivers 384.59 (arch package 384.59-4).
All of the mentioned games launch in wine staging 2.13 and in vanilla Wine
2.14.
An example of a crash report is in the attachment.
Here's my steam game list if you want me to test something else

This game has a really fun feature - it let's you use two mice (mouse+touchpad
also works) as two separate player inputs.
This does not work in WINE, every input seems to count as player 1.
Here's a picture from Windows in case you're still baffled -
https://i.imgur.com/BoZSSI1.jpg
The game has been discontinued for 8+ years, so if you have trouble finding it
for testing, here's a trial .exe that lets you test for 60 minutes -

Using KDE as a DE.
I was told this is an upstream issue with all the other software, and either
progress has to be made there or WINE has to grab input(optionally?) from /dev
directly.

Summary: Fonts corrupted or missing characters
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P3
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: default_357-line(a)yahoo.de
When playing Alien Swarm, one of the in-game fonts usually exhibits some degree
of corruption; by which I mean that characters are either not rendered or only
their bounding box is. The character still takes up space. The degree of damage
varies from start to start, and may vary in a single session. The nature of the
damage also varies, although disappearing glyphs are the most common symptom.
A similar effect has been observed in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade.
I'm using fglrx from ati-drivers 10.4; I also tried 10.7 and it made no
difference.
I tried resetting .wine; no difference.
I tried removing /usr/share/fonts via chroot/symlink hax; no difference.
I screwed with UseFastTLS in xorg.conf; no difference.
I tried wine 1.1 and 07-30-10 git head .. no difference.
I'm quite simply out of ideas.

Per:

"...two builds of the same program on the same host to always produce

This consistent "binary content" does not happen right now. There is also bug

IcmpSendEcho of icmp.c doesn't work with a ReplySize<56. If ReplySize<56 the
function returns with IP_REQ_TIMED_OUT. In windows the function returns
properly. This has been tested with ubuntu 16 and CentOs 7 (both x86-64) with
wine 1.8.5(32 and 64bit prefix) and wine staging 2.1(32bit prefix).

Has been happening for some time now, probably coincidental with when the
active work on DirectX 10+ began. The game previously rendered normally, at
least without visible artifacts. Now there are visual artifacts in the form of
random polygons popping from the horizon to the camera. If you need a visual
reference, here's a video. https://youtu.be/75Gd9iHFPWI Here is a single
screenshot. https://i.imgur.com/FHPchhb.png
Changing graphics quality settings doesn't affect it. CSMT doesn't affect it
either.
I'm using Arch Linux, an NVidia GPU with proprietary drivers. The prefix is 32
bit with .NET 2.0, 3.5 and 4.0 installed (3.5 is required to run the game).

log of crash
Running a .NET executable with 64-bit Mono version 5.18.0 from
https://www.mono-project.com/download/stable/#download-win crashes when
attempting to start any executable. Earlier versions of Mono have worked.
The easiest way to reproduce this is to run the mcs.bat file included in the
distribution. No source code is needed, it's enough to run the file with no
arguments.
This bug blocks upstream merges into Wine Mono.
