log during the installation
During installation of Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, the installer doesn't
show progress neither in percents, nor in form of the progress bar. On real
Windows Vista, it is being shown as it should.
WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_hp ./wine winecfg
Prefix was set to "Vista".
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_hp/ ./wine start /unix /media/desktop/HPQ_E3/AutoRun.exe &>
~/HPQWC_install.log
I closed the installer near the end of the installation, because it was
starting up the game.
desktop@steamos:~/Code/wine$ ./wine --version
wine-5.0-rc3-11-g6e4d441

Summary: Added input lag in World of Warcraft and other games
Product: Wine

In World of Warcraft you use WASDQE to move your character in the world in a
very highly responsive manner. When using WINE 4.16, there is no perceptible
input lag. However, switching to WINE 4.17 or higher (verified in 5.7 also),
there is immediately perceptible input lag. Namely, in a combination of
dropped/missed inputs and delayed response to inputs the game receives.
This seems to be reproducible 100% of the time based on my experience and
generally everyone else I've asked, or read comments on the topic.
This input lag is so bad it means World of Warcraft should not be played on any
version higher than WINE 4.16 until this input lag bug is fixed, as it makes
gameplay elements (complex boss fights) nearly impossible.

GTA IV backtrace
GTA / Grand Theft Auto IV (1.0.7.0): it gets past the intro screen (R* logo),
but after pressing "Start", it begins loading data while showing the game
characters loading screen, and crashes halfway, showing a backtrace window.
It works OK under wine 3.0.4.

Bug #: 31665
Summary: Femap unexpected crash on rebuild database (or any
command that involves it i.e. import)
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.12
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dark.schneider(a)iol.it
Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 41633
--> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=41633
Backtrace of crash triggered by file->rebuild in femap 10.3 with wine 1.5.12
1) wine femap.exe
2) file->rebuild...
3) answer yes.
The crash happen with any action that implies a rebuild database by femap. I.e.
if you import a "large" bdf, lunching a rebuild is just a fast way to check if
the bug is present or not.
Wine version I tested without the bug (those are working):
1.0.1
1.1.29
1.3.6
Wine versions i tested with the bug (crash with similar backtrace to one
attached):
1.4.1-2 (from debian repo)
1.5.6-2 (from debian repo)
1.5.12
I have tested with both femap 10.2 and femap 10.3 and they share the same
problem with no difference (i.e. probably the code on their side did not
changed and if someone has an older version around it may show the same bug). I
have not tested Femap 10.3.1, but may show the same problem.
All of this is related to 32 bit version of femap and wine running on a AMD 64
bit system. I have no chance to test 32 bit on 32 bit.
The bug persist on another system with ati/amd video driver, tested with both
open source and closed opposed by this system that has closed source nvidia
blob. Due to this bug seems unrelated to the video rendering (e.g. the problem
with femap not redrawing automatically the gl window looks unrelated, if needed
I can post another bug for that, but it's minor glitch)
Best Regards,
Gabriele Dini Ciacci
P.S.
Unrelated practical thing that make it desirable to have a recent version of
wine working: With 1.5.6-2 and 1.5.12 the program is much faster (especially on
start-up and actually faster than on windows)

I am on Ubuntu and have recently moved up to 20.04.1, and after the re-install
I installed MYOB in PlayOnLinux (as I always have) and the date format was
wrong.
After a LOT of testing (you can see further in a Ubuntu bug I submitted -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/playonlinux/+bug/1892859) I have
found what the issue is. After seeing that between Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04 they
moved from wine 3.0 to 5.0, I have tested various versions in PlayOnLinux (all
32-bit, 64-bit seemed to have other issues):
5.0 (default) - NOT working
5.16 (latest in PlayOnLinux) - NOT working
4.21 - NOT working
3.21 - WORKS
There is an easy way to test this (in PlayOnLinux)
1. Open the General tab in the Config for the VM
2. Change the Wine version to whichever you want to test
3. Go to the Wine tab and Windows reboot (I do this to be safe)
4. Open the Command prompt (under the same tab)
5. Type "date"
It will show the current date in the format being used in wine on that vm. For
me, even though everything is set to en_AU and registry settings etc are to
dd/MM/yyyy (also tried d/MM/yyyy) my date format shows as en_US format
(MM/dd/yyyy -not sure if its dd or d as its the 13th today), until I drop back
to version 3.x.
This won't be an issue to people playing games etc I guess, but to anyone doing
anything with dates important (for example I am doing accounting, so my
invoices show wrong dates) this is a show stopper.
I have seen other people online ask about it but none of the answers worked for
me. I would think this is something pretty urgent to look at and get correct.

The original Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon (on CD) seems to install fine, except for
this error at the end of installation:
wine start Setup.exe
[sean@sean-pc-arch GRECON]$ 00d4:fixme:file:NtLockFile I/O completion on lock
not implemented yet
00d4:fixme:sfc:SRSetRestorePointA 02EB66F0 02EB51E0
00d4:fixme:sfc:SRSetRestorePointA 02EB66F0 02EB51E0
00d4:err:ole:CoReleaseMarshalData StdMarshal ReleaseMarshalData failed with
error 0x8001011d
^C
But, when I try to run the game, nothing happens and this is the output on
console:
wine start GhostRecon.exe
[sean@sean-pc-arch Ghost Recon]$ 00c0:err:winediag:wined3d_dll_init Setting
multithreaded command stream to 0.
^C
^C marks where I hit ctrl-c to stop the process, as it seemed hung.
I'm using a 32bit wineprefix with Windows 2000 or XP.
I can't really do regression testing, as I can't get an older package of wine
to install properly, and I also can't get wine to compile for even as new a
version as wine-4.0. It complains about multiple definitions of hInstance and
fails on compiling crypt32. Only the 5.0 releases will compile, and I have this
bug in them.
I've also noticed that a lot of older games seem broken. Seems like nobody has
tested these games in a while. The latest test of the Ghost Recon CD version
recorded in the App database is wine 1.5. Recently I had somebody help me out
with Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings CD version, and we discovered that the
safedisc 1.x copy protection support was broken in wine since version 3.0 I
think. Probably a good idea to try running some old games, especially ones on
CD, to check for compatibility regressions.
