Summary: Latest Steam update (22. Nov 2006) breaks Steam
           Product: Wine
           Version: 0.9.25.
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: major
          Priority: P2
         Component: wine-misc
        AssignedTo: wine-bugs at winehq.org
        ReportedBy: sjsepp at utu.fi

Latest Steam update (22. Nov 2006) breaks Steam when running Wine 0.9.25 in
Debian Sarge (2.6.18.1 kernel, swsusp2 patched). Halflife with latest pre-steam
patches (1110) installed. Logging on to the Steam server just hangs.

If I enter a false Steam password I can see with Ethereal that Steam makes a TCP
connection to Valve servers, but it does not hang. Instead it informs me of a
wrong password. If I give the right password, it will create TCP connections
also, but the will just freeze.

Two days ago when I first installed Steam under Wine it worked like a charm and
the only difference now is that Steam has updated itself. The Halflife part is
not probably relevant, but I'll include it just in case.

Steps to reproduce

1) Install all recommended libraries (lib*-dev) for Debian Sarge
2) Install latest version of Wine (0.9.25) from sources
3) Install Halflife + latest patch (1110)
4) Launch Halflife and enter the registration key
5) Launch SteamInstaller and let it update itself
6) Work around the tahoma.ttf problem by changing every entry of "Tahoma" to
"Arial" in file $STEAM_INSTALL_DIR/resource/steamscheme.res
6) Launch Steam, enter a valid username and password
7) Try to connect

Steam will hang forever. If I press Ctrl-C (xterm + windowmaker) the Steam
window pops up and says: "Connecting Steam account: myaccountname". Couple of
Ctrl-C's or Ctrl-Z + "kill -9 %1" will get rid of it.
