A user sent in a new app into appdb that calls this function. To reproduce,
download _all_ files from this page:

http://podcasting.ie/sw/sony_dvr_243/english/

(otherwise the installer fails)

Then run DVESetup.exe, after install run DVEdit.exe --> crash

(I haven't checked yet if Raphaels patch fixes it)
