What is your Wine version? Why are you trying to reset it to something that is
2+ years old?

And again you should be filing bug with your distro/alsa/kernel. Wine is a user
space app. If it can "freeze" your PC so any other app could. "Fixing" Wine
would be avoiding the actual problem.
