In tools/valgrind-split.pl, what about adding 
Warning
to the
return /uninitialised|Unhandled exception:|Invalid read/;
match in sub is_error ?
I'm asking because I've seen that the FTP tests generate warnings such as:
==20485== Warning: invalid file descriptor 1162170950 in syscall close()
