Andrey Turkin's patches are in git now. The game now runs into the freeze
reported in this bug. A +keyboard log shows an endless sequence of:

trace:keyboard:KEYBOARD_MapDeadKeysym no character for dead keysym 0x0000ff9f
trace:keyboard:X11DRV_ToUnicodeEx AltGrMask = 0000
trace:keyboard:X11DRV_ToUnicodeEx Found keycode 91 (0x5B)
