Try to upgrade to the latest wine version from GIT. The issue you describes
could be related to wine's famous 'opengl child window' bug which affects
opengl and directdraw/direct3d. Most likely the program uses directdraw.

As of today this bug has been fixed. For proper operation at the moment an
nvidia card is required on others it works slower but it should work I think.
