Confirmed with ATI 9800Pro (fglrx 8.37.6) on Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10, using fresh
install of both wine 0.9.47 and downloaded Latest EVE version.  Installing wine
0.9.44 "fixed" the issue for me as well.  

Chatting with other people on the game is frustrating as I have to copy & paste
what they type to the textbox where I type in what I want to say in order to
read what they typed, since it doesn't garble as much there.
