Could you tell us what graphics card you have please?

I had this "blank windows" problem too, but i think it was due to my graphics
card.

If I remember correcttly, the following "tricks" worked for me: running with
native dxdiagn.dll, but also something like "WINEDEBUG=-all wine installer.exe"

If it still fails that way, just try a few (5 or so) times, and see if you can
get  the main windows up correctly. 

As Austin didn't see this problem, i suspect it's ATI problem again
