I can't confirm this with latest wine git master.

ORM=pbuffer

Graphics hardware: Geforce FX 5900
Driver: nvidia-drivers-173.14.09

Did roam around the island a bit, triggering multiple region loads. No crashes.

@Michal: What gfx hardware and drivers are you using?
