With the unofficial patch, the Windows version compatibility set to Windows XP
and the corrections you mentioned, now the game loads for me. I will try to
play a little and see what happens. Do you think there is a way to solve the
movies however? There is a decent bunch of them in the game, therefore it might
be troublesome to try to skip every single one of them.
