Using what ?
While `aplay -d 3 < /dev/urandom` works nicely,
if you just want to see if the sound works,
I don't think it's what you have in mind.
I use wine mostly to have a look at a few games
(and while I enjoy games, I'm not using them often
and those games I tested were not the ones you'd call timing-reliant).

As my mails seem to have been lost,
I'll repeat their main point:
it seems that period_time is a magic number,
that worked for the person who dropped those patches into the git,
but it doesn't work for me.
My value is a magic number too, it seems to work
for me, but I don't know if there's any reason behind it.
I simply tested a few values, significantly smaller than 20000 didn't make a
change, slightly larger wasn't enough, but 40000 seems to be enough.

Now, unless the author will reveal the reason behind those numbers,
this won't help anybody.
