After many days of trying to run this down, I find that I can no longer make
any progress.

My results are in the table below and are somewhat ambiguous. If I install from
.deb (from the Wine archives), the input stealing problem clearly appears by
wine-1.0-rc1. If I build from source, the problem does not seem to appear until
wine-1.0-rc5-1-g0e074d6.
