I believe I fixed the crash after intro with commit
defe6417259344447b4e74ba80b13b5db4d083e4 (applied 2008-12-23).

I also fixed cursor slowness in menu (...which I introduced :$ ) with a commit
inclued in the same batch.

In-game glitches found:
 - moving, square (+ elevation) plain black shadow
 - mouse periodially slows down to run fine again after a second (more sensible
in menu)

But I guess they should be fille in another report (unless one already exists).
