You can also see more of the problem by clicking 'Vor' twice
to go two pages forward to "3. Eingabe und Ergebnisprüfung"; 
there are several table cells that use symbols.  In particular:

Wurzel: Check [where Check is the square root symbol]
...
Stoch.-Funktionen
...
Normalverteilung   Phi(3)   [where Phi is the greek letter]
Umkehrfkt der Normalerteilung Psi(0.7)  [where Pis is the greek lettr]

All of these look fine with MS's symbol.ttf in ~/.fonts.
