Reenable the memory reservation code on FreeBSD

I did not test this patch at all on FreeBSD (I don't have access to a FreeBSD
machine right now), but it's a simple tweak of the previous memory reservation
patch.

Applied alone it breaks threading. But combined with the patch to pthread.c it
should get things working again on FreeBSD and seems nearer the to right way to
fix things than my previous attempt (but that seems to be a fickle thing).
