Sorry, forgot to answer the other question.

The only time I see this happening is when trying to connect to a server. 
Other than setting up a server on a nearby PC (it's the same program, but I
haven't tried to do that in Wine, so I don't know how well that'll work in
Linux) I don't know how to test it.  I believe even the server is free for 300
usages, though.
