Now here's the thing.

Suppose that I write this program you want me to write. Will you be able to
look at its output and tell whether the bug is still there?

This one has it. See? Use "DrawText" on a RTL string with & in it and underline
mode. The bug means that the underscore is under the wrong letter. Simplicity.

The only problem is that you have to actually understand the output in order to
also understand whether the bug is happening. I fail to see how me writing a
test case will do anything to promote anything at all.

It's not, or I would.

But I'm not going to spend 50% of the time taken to fix the thing writing a
test. Especially not when that test would not be readable to someone unless
their able to verify it themselves anyhow.
