say the app can display previously saved files, but can't
create new ones, because of a problem with its tool popup dialogs:

"Little pop-up windows (for creating points, lines, view the undo history...)
only accept keyboard input. Clicking on them with the mouse has no effect. They
title bar is always grey and can't be "activated" (turned blue), and so they
can't be moved around the screen."

the new object.  You can type in it, but not dismiss or accept it.

Still present with wine-0.9.54.
