yes. I managed to make it work using a driver i download from canon's website.
I converted the RPM driver using alien. it works  without any problems on all
applications i tried. However im lost as to why this particular software does
not/ would not detect my printer.

I've searched for a compatible native software similar to this one but found
nothing.

I just wanted it to work. My wine installation is working, i have tried other
applications such as utorrent and a game, C&C Red Alert.
