It suspect this to be hardware-specific.  I've installed the game on my older
single-core AMD64 machine and it doesn't work at all, either with Wine or
Winedbg.

I may try later with an AthlonXP machine I have, and do a backtrace on all
three to try and see what on Earth is going on.  Maybe the errorcodes given by
CD/DVD drives are non-standard (I believe non-readable parts of the disk are
what safedisc relies on)
