I have create some more logs. This time with Wireshark so traffic can be
analysed.

Server is running in a win2k VM on my linux system. Three logs were created:
(i) Wine running on the same system (outside of the VM of course) trying to
join the game (on the VM server) -> fails, usual error
(ii) Wine running on a remote system, same thing
(iii) Remote system this time with a vista setup, connecting works
