The 8.3 bit is probably unrelated. It seems to happen on my Windows machine any
time files are copied to a directory without specifying a destination filename,
but I'm not convinced it will happen on Windows systems in general. Anyway, the
installer doesn't seem to mind if the filenames aren't truncated.
