Your patch(changing the SHORT4 to D3DCOLOR) does the right thing I think. There
is no SHORT4 data type in d3d7, specular and diffuse colors are D3DCOLORs. Feel
free send it to wine-patches at winehq.org to get it applied.

If you have time to write tests they are welcome as well, we can never have
enough tests
