Wine depends on fontforge, and we have any control on this (it even looks
much worse taking into account George's stance in the comments above).

To me it's clear that it's the fontforge bug, why this bug stays open
is beyond my understanding. I'd suggest to keep reporting this to George,
if enough people starts doing that perhaps there is a chance it will be
fixed properly.
