Installed 0.9.57-11.1 with similar results.
Tried various combinations xp/2000/98 and oleauto32, with no success.

Out of frustration, I added ole32 and wham, it's all working!!!!!!!!!. 
Initially I was still set to win2000, which was OK, changed to xp and still all
seems fine.

I've not yet carried out exhaustive testing, but everything I have done has
worked.  So a major breakthrough.
