I should mention that the font copying and registry hack is *also* needed for
win32 mono 1.2.6 - so those fonts or whatever probably needs to be a standard 
part of wine.

with unchanged 0.5.56, .NET 2 framework can be installed, and correctly as
well. 
however, the changes
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=3754
are required for *running* .NET apps.

I am not convinced that all of the changes are needed (nor correct, based on 
the discussions here) - especially
the font hack seems too "wholesale" just-copy-everything-under-windows.
FWIW, Vista ships over 300Mb of fonts, and it is stupid to copy them all.
(I didn't - I just sym-linked them).
