Wow, you guys are quick.

Both of you said there's a licence agreement to click through, so I thought I
must be going crazy. I removed ~/.wine and installed it again, and ran it
again.

But I'm afraid I don't see a licence agreement - there's nothing in the window
list indicating one. I also set wine to emulate a virtual desktop, which you
can see in the attachment. When the VD is created, it looks for a split second
as if a second window is created, but then it vanishes. I cannot resize or
manipulate anything within the VD, nor even close it. I have to kill wine.

I'm running Ubuntu 7.10. I installed wine via information on
http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb .
