The update is a *.msp file, you can download it from:
http://www.endnote.com/support/ENX101_Win_updater.asp

I tried it on a system without the actual endnote program and get the same
error. So you can test the update wihtout having an endnote license.

I used the command:
wine msiexec /p *.msp
