Looks like you rediscovered and improved upon some of the tips in
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=2390&iTestingId=14177
Have you tried the other tips there,
"use ies4linux", "use msxml4", and "use win98 mode"?
