Same Problem here, 

2.6.24-gentoo-r3 (32bit)
nvidia 169.12 
wine 0.9.58 
KDE 3.5.9 with Kwin as WM 


Hardware :

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86Ghz
Nvidia 8800GT 
2 GB RAM 


I can load Source, make the FPS Stress Test, its running fine. 
But when i load a Network or OnlineGame and the first Sound 
appears it crashes. Sound loops, Picture is freezing and 3 
seconds later im an my Desktop again
