NEVER use Wine as root.

You need to remover your ~/.wine directory first.
Please retest as a normal user and add a log with:
WINEDEBUG="+process,+tid,+driver,+print,+psdrv" wine app.exe 2>&1 | tee log.txt

The Function GetOutlineTextMetrics16 is only a stub.
That might be a reason for the missing Preview.
