P.S.  If you've got any ideas as to what might be causing the problems, I'll be
happy to investigate.  I've been going through the code of dsound quite heavily
but I haven't found any real problems yet.  Changing the locks around makes
some improvements but that just suggests it's a timing issue in some other part
of the code.
