minimal hack to get it running

So had some void cpu cycles. I found at least the initial splash screen comes
up fine in wine-0.9.30. So there seems to be a regression , and regression test
showed it was

the app. The attaches hack is a partial revert from that patch, and with the
hack applied, the demo starts and runs just fine in current git
