Can confirm it is still a problem to use AnarchyPatcher.exe.

Im running Ubuntu 8.04 with wine version wine-1.0-rc1, have downloaded small
client version 17.0.0 from anarchy-online.com, and tried to patch it up to
17.8.2, but after 17.5.2, patcher is not working any more, gives error message
"An unsupported operation was attempted." and closes.

I have tried to follow advices on this page, found an old patcher file, 
http://ftp.funcom.com/c/Maintenance/15.5.0/AnarchyPatcher.exe, from
05-Apr-2004, but when trying to use it, the software checked for new version
directly over internet, download/install latest AnarchyPatcher.exe and runs
with same error message.

Tried to change operativesystem in winecfg for Anarchy.exe and
AnarchyPatcher.exe, to windows 98/xp/vista, and mfc42.dll="native",
shdcocvw="native/builtin", mshtml="native/builtin", but same error message,
