I can confirm that it is a bug.  And yes, I'm frustrated with making it work.

Since initial post, I was able to finally install Office 2003 from Small
Business Edition CD within Ubuntu 8.10 on Toshiba Tecra M2

Before you ask, I know where the Terminal app is but I don't know how to get
you an output as Austin repeatedly asked for it.

So far, Word works.  Outlook opens and works but at the start up it gives you a
Word 11.0 error, of not enough memory.  Clicking on Import function, I get a
'operation fail' error.

Excel seems to be ok to date, PowerPoint as well

Publisher opens but attempting to save any test document causes it to crash
