You shouldn't have removed anything. Just set the override. No, you would not
have to reinstall Word; Office installs its own riched20.dll into a private
directory, but Wine won't use it unless you tell it to.

If it didn't work, it didn't work. I figured it was worth a shot because I
noticed some richedit fixmes in your console output.  

You should retest this in the latest Wine (fresh install to a clean
wineprefix), and if it's still a problem, post a comment to that effect.
