Installing the lib32nss-mdns package solved the problem! It now works (except
https and another very funny bug that I filed separately:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15178 (how can I attach this bug to page
about Chrome?)

No, 32-bit Firefox works fines out of box (as well as 32-bit Thunderbird).
