I have this problem as well, on 32bit hardy, unless I launch with:
WINEPREFIX="/home/austin/.wine" wine "C:\windows\profiles\austin\Local
Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe --no-sandbox
--disable-breakpad --new-http"
