I'm also an opensuse user, take a look at

where I uploaded the last patched wine version that worked for me without the
river glitches on spore 1.00. It's basically the one with the recommended patch
for 1.1.4 (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=15883). The package has
been compiled with the extra spore patch on opensuse 11. See if you run into
problems like mine if you upgrade spore to 1.01.
