I have installed 1.18 completely fresh from repositories in Ubuntu 8.10.  I am
still receiving the same backtrace information as attached.  Although once
every 10 or so tries I get lucky and it starts up, with much graphical
corruption, especially in windowed mode, where the top of the screen has a nice
chunk of corruption, offsetting the entire rendered image beneath it.

In fullscreen things look alright, but I do still find corruption.  But not to
get off-topic...

Anyhow I am using the Catalyst 9.3 drivers, not sure if there is a reason
specific to this new driver that may also be causing this.
