Well, two things:
1) Not too big a worry I suppose, unnecessary CPU waste can be bothersome due
to heat and battery drain on laptops, or if one has cpu-intensive things in the
background.
2) In one program (not TH06), this increase in FPS seems to trigger the issue
described in bug 7640, comment 24 if I understand things correctly.

Point #1 I suppose is a minor annoyance, and point #2 is more properly the
fault of bug 7640, and only indirectly related to this bug. Due to such, I
suppose my earlier comment is mostly meaningless except for noting that I've
seen it affect other programs (In particular, the Ragnarok Online client, and
some others I can't remember off hand).
