OpenGL does work outside wine - even if it is slow, due to the current problems
on the Intel mesa driver on Ubuntu (see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/252094).

However, I have also discovered a workaround for the bug - after restarting X
the game will run again with no problems. If you try to run it again in the
same X session, no dice.
