I remember someone saying on the forums that it was fixed.
They provided a screenshot.

I'm not sure if there simply talking about the Alpha Transparency, or the
actual Map Stretching not working.

When I tried it in 1.1.18, we still had this bug.
I'm thinking between 1.1.4 and 1.1.18 it was fixed, and then broken again.
I'll do some more digging into this when I have time.
