I have found a similar regression.  Please indicate which graphics card you use
(as mine is *much* better on intel 915 than on my GeForce 5500).

Also, check if the game runs better with "still portraits" (or disabled), and
color cycling disabled. I found this helped a little, but did not fix it
completely.
