I can now confirm that the regression identified by the OP in wine-1.1.3
 d3d: Remove IWineD3DDevice::SetHwnd
indeed breaks Pharaoh's (and Cleopatra's) full-screen behaviour in Ubuntu
Intrepid.

Actually, F6-F10 cause changes.
