I can confirm that the salvage beam renders white.
On my ATI laptop; there is no noticeable drop in frame rate (though the beam is
still white)
On my Nvidia laptop; the frame rate drops to nothing (the frame won't change
until salvaging is over, or the frame will change but only once ever 60 seconds
or so).

The only real difference between these two laptops is the video card, and the
ATI laptop have 1G less ram. (as far as stats go)

I think the white beam is the wine bug and the frame rate is the cards drivers
not being able to handle the bug. But that is a guess.

Happens on 1.1.24 and 1.1.25

amd64 system
