It is a directory tree problem. If you try to save inside your home directory
or desktop etc., and choose "Desktop", or "My Document", or "My Computer", from
the dropdown list, the saving process will certainly fail.

Instead of choosing those places directly from the dropdown menu, in "Save
in..." choose the full path, i.e., click on / (this is the most important
part), then go to /home/your_user_name/Desktop (or any other place, just follow
the steps), and save the file. Now save works. Same goes for export.

So, the solution is to go through full path beginning from / (root directory),
and not using shortcuts displayed in Save dialog's dropdown menu.
