Well, after my final switch to Linux as my primary OS, now I am trying to
reproduce the workflow that I was confortable with, while using Windows.
So I gave a try to my previous software for hard drive imaging and backup;
perhaps I was misled by a comment in the True Image AppDB entry (it states
that: "Using the last wine and the trial version from the acronis website I
successfully installed and ran Acronis True Home on Ubuntu 7.1").

That's a easy guess: after all, that software installs at least a windows
service and needs at least a device driver to work (to copy a "live" filesystem
without the need of a reboot, I suppose).
However, the missing function is a fairly general one: it deals with a general
low-level synchronisation object, which could be useful also for other apps. So
I opened the bug to notify that.

On the other hand, if you think that the bug is not useful and therefore must
be closed, that's fine.
